joy clowns
The Joy Clowns are a team of Gospel Clowns based here Ridgeview. They have been clowning together since 1997.
Performing Christian Clowning in worship services, Vacation Bible School and other special events are their favorite things to do. They have traveled on mission trips to other countries like Bolivia; Belize; Brazil; Antigua; Prince Edward Island, Canada; Trinidad; Nicaragua; Mexico and Venezuela. They are prayerfully making plans to go to Honduras in the summer of 2011. Here, in the states, they have enjoyed mission trips to Daytona Beach, Florida; E. Helena, Montana; and the Appalachain areas of Lynch, Kentucky; Raysel, West Virginia; Williamsburg, Kentucky; Scott County, Tennessee; and in Indianapolis, Indiana.
They also enjoy campground missions. This year will be the 6th year to work with missionaries at campgrounds in Townsend, Tennessee. They will be at KOA campground the week of May 30 - June 3, 2011. They will conduct Day Camps each morning at 10:00 am for children in the campground and Family Evening Programs at 8:00 pm each evening for families camping at KOA.
They are "Caring Clowns." They enjoy visiting nursing homes and hospitals to spread gospel cheer. In addition to skits and clown antics, they do face painting, make balloon animals and perform gospel illusions.
the sunshine junior clowns
The clown ministry of the Sonshine Bunch Jr. Clowns is a part of the Children in Action mission group here at Ridgeview. They meet every Wednesday night in the children's department at 6:30 pm. They began the clown ministry in 2009 and have found many ways to share the Love of Jesus through clowning. The children are ages 1st - 5th grade and they choose their clown name, character and look. They have been trained in the do's and don'ts of Christian Clowning.
They have presented programs at KOA campground in Townsend, TN; Windsor Gardens Nursing Home in Knoxville, TN; Cancer Survivors Group in Maryville, TN; and for the WOM group at the Knox County Baptist Association. They clowned for a mobile home park ministry, and for VBS at Lonsdale Baptist Church. They also do Birthday Parties! These little clowns just love to show the world that God Loves Them!
For more information on either of the clown groups, contact Susie Waddell at sdmwaddell@comcast.net or call the church office.
